Bring people together for a good cause
Some of the most successful fundraising happens around a table. A cream tea with friends, a coffee morning with colleagues, a bake sale at your local hall — these small, friendly gatherings quietly raise thousands of pounds for Kent's carers every year.
Ideas for community events
- Cream tea afternoon — a classic Kent fundraiser, easy to host at home, at church, or in a village hall
- Coffee morning — host one at work, in your street, or for a local group
- Bake sale — perfect for schools, offices, and local fairs
- Quiz night — gather friends in a pub or village hall
- Raffle or tombola at an existing event
- Family gatherings — ask guests to donate in lieu of presents
- Garden party, BBQ or picnic with a suggested donation
What makes these events work
- Simple to organise — most can be set up in a week or two
- Sociable — they bring people together around something positive
- Scalable — works whether you're hosting 5 people or 50
- Great for all ages — families, community groups, schools and offices

How to collect the money
- Online — set up a JustGiving or Facebook fundraiser and share the link with guests
- At the event — cash, card reader, or collection tin
- Afterwards — bank transfer or send us a cheque. We'll send a receipt for your records
Planning your event — practical tips
- Set a date at least 3–4 weeks ahead — gives time to promote and invite
- Pick a venue that suits your crowd — home, garden, village hall, church, office canteen, or pub
- Keep costs low — ask for donated cakes, tea and coffee. The less you spend, the more you raise
- Invite more than you expect — not everyone will come, and those who can't attend often donate anyway
- Have a sign or banner explaining who the funds are for — it encourages donations from passers-by
- Consider Gift Aid — if donors fill in a simple form, we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 from HMRC at no cost to them
Frequently asked questions
Do I need permission to fundraise for you? No formal permission is needed for private events. If you're collecting in a public space, you may need a licence — get in touch and we'll advise.
Can I use your logo on my poster? Yes — we'll include logos and templates in your fundraising pack, or email you digital files.
What if I only raise a small amount? Every penny counts. A £50 event and a £5,000 event both make a difference to carers in Kent. There is no minimum.
Can you attend my event? Where possible, a member of our team would love to come along. Let us know the date and we'll do our best.
Ready to host an event? Email our fundraising team and we'll send you everything you need.
