A meaningful way to honour someone special
Many people choose to honour a loved one by raising funds in their memory. For families who have experienced the caring journey first-hand, supporting Crossroads Care Kent is a way to turn grief into something positive — helping other carers and families in your local community.
Ways to give in memory
Donations in lieu of flowers
The most common way people support us at a time of loss. Rather than flowers, family and friends give a donation to Crossroads Care Kent. Many funeral directors can manage this collection on your behalf and send the total to us.
Tribute fund on MuchLoved
MuchLoved is the most widely-used online tribute platform in the UK. You can:
- Create a free, personal online tribute page in memory of your loved one
- Share memories, photos, stories and candle-lighting
- Receive donations directly to Crossroads Care Kent
- Keep the page as a lasting memorial — open for years to come
It's a beautiful way to gather family and friends from anywhere in the world to remember someone together.
Facebook Fundraiser in their memory
A Facebook birthday or memorial fundraiser is simple to set up and can reach a wide network of friends and family quickly.
Fundraising events in their memory
Some families hold annual events — a walk, a coffee morning, a sponsored challenge — in memory of someone they've lost. A lovely way to keep their memory alive while making a difference for others.
Working with funeral directors
Most funeral directors in Kent are familiar with Crossroads Care Kent and can:
- Manage donations in lieu of flowers on your behalf
- Include our details in the order of service
- Send the collected funds to us with the family's name so we can acknowledge the gift
- Advise families on tribute funds and other options
If your funeral director doesn't know us, please share our contact details — they can call us directly on 0345 095 6701 or email enquiries@crossroadskent.org.
What your tribute helps fund
Every donation in memory of a loved one goes directly to supporting carers across Kent — respite care, counselling, young carers' clubs, volunteer services and emergency support. We'll always acknowledge the gift with a heartfelt thank you to the family.
Gift Aid on memorial donations
If donors are UK taxpayers, Gift Aid allows us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated — at no cost to the donor. This can significantly increase the value of a tribute collection. MuchLoved and JustGiving handle Gift Aid declarations automatically. For offline donations, we can provide Gift Aid forms to include with the order of service or collection envelope.
Keeping a tribute going
A tribute doesn't have to end after the funeral. Many families choose to:
- Keep a MuchLoved page open — friends and family can donate on anniversaries, birthdays, and other meaningful dates
- Hold an annual event — a walk, a coffee morning, or a sponsored challenge each year in their loved one's name
- Ask for donations instead of birthday or Christmas gifts — redirecting celebrations into something meaningful
- Share the page on social media on special dates — a gentle way to invite further support
Frequently asked questions
Can I set up a tribute page if I'm not the next of kin? Yes. Friends, colleagues, and extended family are all welcome to create tribute pages or fundraisers in someone's memory.
Will the family receive acknowledgement? Yes. We send a personal letter to the family acknowledging the total raised and explaining the difference it will make. If you'd like us to write to a specific person, just let us know.
Can I donate in memory without setting up a page? Of course. You can make a one-off donation on our donate page and note that it's in memory of someone. We'll ensure it's acknowledged appropriately.
How do I include your details in the order of service? We can email or post you the exact wording and our logo for printing. Just email us with the date and we'll get it to you promptly.
